What do I need to bring with me to hospital?
    You will need to bring with you the following items:
    • All medications that you are currently taking
    • All relevant x-rays
    • A nightgown or pajamas, dressing gown and slippers
      Day surgery patients will be supplied with a dressing gown
    • Personal toiletries and tissues
    • A small amount of money for telephone calls, snacks, magazines, etc.
    • A book and if appropriate, a favourite toy

    Please leave all value items and cash at home or give it to the cashier for storage in the safe.

Will I need to fast before my operation?
    A staff member will contact you to confirm your operation date and provide you with information regarding pre-surgical procedures such as fasting. They will also be able to help you with any other questions you might have regarding your stay in hospital.

Can I stay with my child while he/she is in hospital?
    Parents are encouraged to stay with their children while they are in hospital. Please let the staff know if you intend to stay overnight so arrangements can be made for you.

Do I need to be a member of the Catholic Church to use the health service?
    Although HDHS is run by Catholic Healthcare, we deliver health care to all members of the community.
