Services and programmes
Pastoral care is available to patients, families and staff for services including:
- Crisis and grief counselling
- Seriously ill or troubled
- Patient and/or friends who are distressed at the time of admission
- When patients or families request a visit
- For support: especially ICU, pre-surgery, pre-test, pre-delivery, etc.
- Loneliness - have a few visitors
- Dying patients
- A still born or neo-natal death
- Patient or family counselling
- When a patient requests the Chaplain, or another Minister of Religion
- When relatives request to see a Chaplain, often after a death
- Anger issues
- Guilt issues
- Spiritual assessment
- Educational programmes
- Religious rituals especially linked to the human life cycle
- Prayer services
- Quality of life and lifestyle enrichment
- Patient advocacy
- Liaise with local clergy
- Administer the Sacraments
