Public Hospital Care

HDHS offers a choice of public hospital care or private hospital care. Your choice will be influenced by

• the level of your health insurance cover,
• choice of doctor,
• preferred accommodation and
• other factors.

Patients who have private insurance or who chose to be 'self insured' can access our private facilities outside the confines of the normal public hospital regulations.  Every patient who chooses to be admitted as a private patient creates a space for their neighbour (who does not have private insurance) to receive care as a public patient.
