Graduate Nursing at Hawkesbury District Health Service/Hawkesbury Private Hospital

HDHS offers a comprehensive and innovative Graduate Nurse Program. The program offers Registered Nurses an exciting opportunity to kick start their nursing careers in a dynamic and supportive clinical environment.

Hawkesbury District Health Service comprises 127 beds, four operating theatres, 24-hour Emergency Department, After Hours GP Clinic, Day Surgery Unit, Maternity, Neonatal, ICU/CCU, Palliative Care and Medical and Surgical Services, as well as extensive Community & Allied Health Services. HDHS employs over 600 staff and 50 Visiting Medical Officers. In this environment, caring for the residents of the Hawkesbury region and the rapidly expanding population of the North West corridor of Sydney, HDHS offers newly graduated nurses the opportunity for extensive experience and exciting career opportunities by offering a 4 term rotation, including a Critical Care placement in either Emergency or the Operating Theatre.

Newly graduated Registered Nurses and nursing students completing their final year are invited to apply.

AIMS OF THE PROGRAM:nursing

- Identify learning needs of the post graduate registered nurse

- Consolidation and application of clinical knowledge and skills

- Develop confidence and competence as a newly registered nurse

- Work as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team

- Promote and implement evidence based nursing practice

- Encourage advanced critical thinking processes.

GRADUATE PROGRAM OUTLINE:

- Definite Intake One: Commences February

- Possible Intake Two: Commences July

- Contracted hours negotiable (minimum of 8 shifts per fortnight)

- More flexibility and choices with rotations through surgical, medical and specialty rotations

- Preceptors for each rotation

- Two orientation days including survival skills workshop

- One supernumerary day per rotation

- One group presentation and one research project

- Supportive learning environment

Remuneration as per Catholic Healthcare Award Rates (available upon request) and conditions and entitlements as per the NSW Private Hospital's Award.
Annual leave as per the award and as negotiated.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

- The applicant must complete and sign the application for employment form and forward it with your current curriculum vitae including two professional referees.

- Demonstrated ability to work and perform within a multidisciplinary team

- Knowledge of the EQUiP cycle and a commitment to improving performance
