Catholic Healthcare and Hawkesbury District Health Service

On the 9th September 1994 the New South Wales Government awarded Catholic Healthcare with the contract to develop Hawkesbury District Health Service. After three months of intense negotiations, contracts were signed on the 21st December 1994 for the construction of a new hospital and the delivery of services to the people of Hawkesbury over a twenty year period.

At the heart of Catholic Healthcare's constitutional existence is the Church organisation. Catholic Healthcare (NSW & ACT) was founded by six congregations under a constitution approved by the Province of Bishops of NSW. It was founded to bring together the support of diverse congregations and dioceses in order to create something new and vital within the life of the Church. Catholic Healthcare is responsible for stewardship of health and care facilities and programs on nine sites in NSW and works with approximately 900 staff.
