Nursing Services
Hawkesbury District Health Service’s Community Nursing Services comprise of two parts.
The Child and family Health Nursing Service provides services to well children 0-5 years including a first home visit, Early Childhood health Clinics for parent support, feeding and development checks, as well as hearing and vision screening before school.
Residents of the Hawkesbury who require wound care, assistance with complex aged and chronic care, and palliative care can be referred to the Primary Health Care Team. This team also provides the community with a dressing clinic that is available by appointment only.
The Community Health Centre, to discuss services and to access clinic appointments, can be done Monday to Friday (not including public holidays) between 8.30am-4.30pm.
Community Nursing
Home nursing services (wound dressings, injections, palliative care, aged care, continence etc), community nursing clinic (wound dressings, injections etc), health promotion programs, catheter clinic and specialised support services i.e. Stepping On Program are provided by HDHS community nurses who visit clients' homes and conduct clinics at Hawkesbury Community Health Centre.
Palliative Care
Palliative care is provided through the Primary Health Care Team (community nurses) supported by a specialist nurse, and medical staff. Help is provided for the individual and his/her loved ones living with a life-threatening or life-limiting condition. These professionals assist with pain management and symptom control, as well as emotional support during this stressful time. The Primary Health Care Team and Palliative Care professionals work with your local GP, medical specialist, and other community support services.
Referrals to this service can be done by contacting the Intake Officer at the Community Health Centre Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays) between 8.30am and 4.30pm.
Community Nursing Clinics
Community nurses run morning clinics for ambulant patients with wounds requiring assessment & dressings, injections, compression bandaging etc.

Early Childhood Services
Home Visits and Early Childhood Clinics
Child & Family Health Nurses provide early childhood/child health services 0 – 5yrs - home visiting and clinics (various locations throughout the Hawkesbury LGA), health promotion programs and specialised support services i.e. feeding clinic, immunisation clinics, hearing clinic etc. These services are provided as home visits and at Hawkesbury Community Health Centre.
Immunisation Clinics
Qualified immunisation nurses conduct free child immunisation clinics at a variety of locations throughout the Hawkesbury LGA. Contact Hawkesbury Community Health Centre for details.

2013
Clinics close promptly at the specified time due to administration requirements.
Immunisation recommendations require immunised people to remain at the clinic for 10 - 20 minutes after the vaccine is administered.
